Elkay has spent 15 years refining its ezH2O® bottle filling stations, and the Pro Filtration is the latest step: cutting-edge filtration paired with design-forward aesthetics. "With the constant goal of providing sustainable solutions and cleaner water, each new version of our bottle filler has played a part in redefining the water delivery space," says Krystal Pesch, Sr. Director, Portfolio Management at Zurn Elkay.
Its real strength is flexibility: it lets you tailor filtration specifications to the risks and traffic patterns across your portfolio without changing the rough-in or service routine. Every configuration lives in the same overhead chamber, uses the same top-access, quarter-turn interface, and is trackable through Elkay's plumbSMART™ platform. Filter changes take under 30 seconds with a standard T25 security Torx bit, and the system automatically detects a new filter, resets the status light, and flushes the line before anyone drinks.
Choosing the right filter, sediment, and UV combination.
Elkay offers four cartridges for Pro Filtration, all certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53, and 401 for lead, cysts, asbestos, turbidity, and taste/odor:
FL10 — 10,000-gallon Ultra Capacity lead filter, standard with every unit. Best for steady, high-traffic areas where maximizing filter life is the priority.
FL6 — 6,000-gallon High Capacity lead filter. A middle tier: more frequent change-outs than the FL10, longer intervals than the FLP4, where PFAS isn't a specific concern.
FLP4 — 4,000-gallon Total PFAS + lead filter, additionally certified to reduce Total PFAS below 20 ppt. Well suited to higher-vulnerability spaces like nurse's offices or elementary schools.
FSR5 — Sediment prefilter. Worth adding anywhere the municipal supply is older, since sediment is a leading cause of shortened cartridge life. Not required at purchase, and not a substitute for a contaminant-reducing filter.
Every configuration can also add a UVC-LED module at the dispensing point, rated for roughly 10,000 hours (8–10 years of typical use), a common choice for healthcare-adjacent and early childhood settings. A K–12 district, for example, might standardize on FL10 filters for classroom wings and offices, step down to FLP4 in nurse's offices, and add the FSR5 anywhere the supply is older. Universities and healthcare campuses can apply the same logic at scale. Because every option shares the same envelope and service process, these become stocking and water quality decisions, not construction decisions. Use our Elkay Pro Filtration Comparison Chart to quickly compare filter options and choose the right configuration for your facility. With Elkay Pro Filtration, it pays to set the strategy up front; reconfiguring hardware after installation is neither simple nor inexpensive.
Built for maintenance teams, not just end users.
Elkay recommends treating each station as a tracked asset: record which filter is installed, whether the FSR5 or UV module is present, and the commissioning date, then label the unit inside the top panel so technicians can confirm what they're servicing at a glance.
The plumbSMART™ platform supports that at no additional cost, giving facility teams a centralized, remote view of filter status, usage, and maintenance alerts across a portfolio. Plus, it enables remote scheduling and documentation of line flushing and integrates with most modern Building Automation Systems. Connected models use a Pro Endpoint Connected Kit (P/N 1100000026). Units launching later this year ship with built-in connectivity.
Digital visibility enables preventive filter changes during school breaks rather than reactive swaps — and it's exactly where a plumbing-specialized partner earns its keep. At The Part Works, we help facilities teams strategize and order the right units and filter combinations up front, build a stocking list around them, and step in with vendor-managed inventory once plumbSMART™ flags cartridges nearing end-of-life. We can also provide water safety training to help your team understand the “why” behind each configuration, not just the “how.”
Availability and the bottom line.
The Elkay Pro Filtration is now available in single- and bi-level configurations, in a Midnight Black finish with more colors planned, manufactured in the USA, and backed by a 5-year warranty on refrigeration and a 1-year warranty on electrical and water systems. Elkay reports 15 stations prevent roughly 1,890,000 plastic bottles (89,200 pounds of waste) from entering the waste stream, meeting WELL building standards along the way. Initial cost runs 10–15% higher than standard models, but total cost of ownership is typically lower thanks to fewer, faster service visits.
